Challenger Deck
Counter Surge is the black and green deck from the first wave of Challenger Decks for Magic: The Gathering, the line Wizards of the Coast created to put a tuned Standard list in a single box. It plays as midrange built on energy and +1/+1 counters. Winding Constrictor adds extra counters to everything, Longtusk Cub converts its energy into counters, and Rishkar, Peema Renegade, Walking Ballista and three copies of the mythic Verdurous Gearhulk turn that into a wide, hard to answer board.
Besides the sixty cards you play, the package adds fifteen sideboard options, a spindown die for tracking life, a sturdy box roomy enough for all of it in sleeves, and a rules reference guide. Most cards come from the Kaladesh and Amonkhet blocks, with a few from Ixalan.
A fine pick for players who enjoy flexible, value driven games, and for collectors completing the original four Challenger lists.
