Illustration Collection
Series 1 opened the First Partner Illustration Collection. Spread over three boxes, the line from the Pokémon Trading Card Game honours the starter Pokémon a Trainer picks at the start of each adventure. This box looks at three regions: Kanto with Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, Sinnoh with Turtwig, Chimchar and Piplup, and Alola with Rowlet, Litten and Popplio.
Inside sits a special promo pack holding three of the nine illustration rare style promo cards from the series, so it takes a few boxes, or some trading, to complete all nine. Two regular Pokémon TCG boosters and a sheet of first partner stickers complete the contents.
With the original Kanto trio on board, Series 1 speaks most directly to players whose first game was Red and Blue. It sits well next to Series 2 and Series 3 in a collection, and the promos look great in a nine pocket binder page.
