Magali Villeneuve is one of the most recognised painters in Magic, and her Artist Series drop shows four cards in her own choice: Mother of Runes, Death's Shadow, Elvish Mystic and a Forest. She has painted well over 100 Magic illustrations, and for this drop she also worked on the flavor text of three cards, each line reflecting how she approached that piece.
This is the non-foil printing. Her detailed figures and soft forest light come through cleanly on standard card stock, so the set works just as well in a Legacy or Commander deck as in a binder. Mother of Runes and Elvish Mystic are classic one drops, and Death's Shadow is a long running competitive threat.
The bonus card is a sketch version of the Forest, a pencil look at the same landscape.
The drop was part of the April Superdrop alongside the Sidharth Chaturvedi and Wayne Reynolds Artist Series.
