Dixit is Jean-Louis Roubira's picture game of storytelling and guessing, illustrated by Marie Cardouat and published by Libellud. Each round one player is the storyteller: they choose one of the six cards in their hand and offer a clue for it, which can be a single word, a whole phrase or a few notes of a song. Everyone else secretly hands over the card from their own hand that suits the clue, the cards are shuffled and revealed, and all vote on which was the original.
The trick is the middle ground. If every player or no player spots your card you score nothing, so a good clue is half clear and half mysterious.
This refreshed edition seats 3 to 8 players aged 8 and up and a game takes about 30 minutes. Its 84 large wordless cards travel across languages, voting happens on dials, and wooden rabbits race round the scoring track. A Spiel des Jahres winner and the base box for every Dixit expansion.
